There has been some communication recently about the Christmas lights. We have an annual grant from Salford Council which we supplement from our own funds. Before lights can be put in a tree, the tree has to be near a lamp to provide power so some of the trees are not suitable. Salford Council are in charge of the installation. the maintenance, the power supply and the timing mechanism. The cost is about £1500 PER TREE. Some of the trees on Roe Green are so big that 1000 pea lights are barely enough and we also have the problem of the squirrels eating
the bulbs.
If anyone wishes to contribute towards more lights, this will be gratefully received.
