Roe Green Cricket club was founded in 1881 and been at the centre of our village at its current location since 1902.
The original wooden pavilion ,built in 1920,and now listed as a heritage asset in the Worsley conservation area and is described as a”typical Lancashire County League Cricket Club building of rural character.
The years of use have taken its toll and major work is required on the foundations and the structure of the pavilion, refurbishment, modernisation are also required before the pavilion falls into disrepair .
The amount of work required needs professionals to do this which is expensive so the club is applying for a grant to cover the costs.
Viridor Credits run funding schemes for community, heritage or biodiversity projects and the club has applied for a grant to part fund this project.
The club is asking for letters of support to help with the application by sending a letter or email to add to their application.Letters /emails of support should be sent to

Over the last ten years there has been continuous improvements to the linear walk way,it is now also a cycle track and the improvements are still on going and will be completed this summer.
The loopline,as it is now called, is part of the national cycle network55 and stretches from Little Hulton to Monton.
A celebration to mark the completion of the loopline will take place on Wednesday 6th July at 10.30 am on Parrfold park at at location near the loopline.
One of the advantages of exploring the loopline from Parrfold park is access has been provided for wheel chairs ,there are not many others, one is at Worsley old railway station and at the end of the loopline at Monton
There are other access points onto the loopline but these are via steps down to the lower level.
